let me introduce myself
who am i
I’m an International Mountain Leader and outdoor instructor. I have experience leading day and multi day hikes both in the Alps and in the UK, and I also teach the basics of campcraft and navigation.
My favourite thing is multi day trekking and camping in the Alps, basking in the sun and swimming in mountain lakes. After many years living in the most beautiful but wettest places in the UK, I’m currently living on the edge of the Italian eastern Alps, where it’s always sunny.
Working or not, I’m always outside, trekking, climbing or cycling. And on the odd rainy day I’m planning my next adventure.
My training and work experience
I did my training in Wales, UK, at Plas y Brenin – The National Outdoor Centre, one of three national centres for outdoor activities. I lived and worked at the centre as a trainee for over a year, and I gained the following qualifications:
- Summer Mountain Leader
- Rock Climbing Instructor
- Climbing Wall Instructor
- Level 1 certificate in coaching paddlesport
- REC2 First Aid
And the end of my time as a trainee I started working as a Mountain Leader in the UK. My professional experience includes:
- Leader of day hikes and multi-day treks for adults
- Duke of Edinburgh Award trainer and assessor
- Leader of worldwide expeditions for high school students
After gaining experience for a few years I decided to become an International Mountain Leader, a qualification that allows me to guide people trekking all over the world in the summer and, where allowed, in winter.
